Exposure and Response Prevention (ExRP) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Whether you’ve been formally diagnosed, received prior treatment or suspect you may be struggling with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), I can help. Exposure and response prevention (ExRP) is the golden standard for treatment of OCD. When working together I will teach about the cycle of OCD, and how repeated attempts to avoid unwanted thoughts, images and distress keep you stuck in compulsions and make obsessions worse.

Without support it can feel impossible to resist compulsions and co-exist with unwanted and distressing thoughts. Many with OCD suffer greatly for long periods of time without the right support. Fortunately, OCD is very treatable with the proper care. I will tailor your treatment specifically to your unique experiences and symptoms. Together we will push back against the OCD monkey holding the reins and empower you to take actions to live the life you want. In addition to ERP, I use tools from acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) to help you learn distress tolerance and mindfulness skills and clarify your personal values. This will support you to challenge yourself to pursue what you want instead of being driven by your fears.
